Why Psychotherapy?

Why Psychotherapy?

There's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Modern life presents us with dilemmas every day that can bring on feelings of depression, anxiety, overwhelm and more. Conflicting emotions or automatic negative reactions about a situation can often distance us from significant others. Crisis around a job loss or a significant other can bring on these feelings as well. You may be at a place in life where you’d like to do more self-exploration. I’m here to provide a caring, safe, confidential environment to work on these things together.

I work in a relational therapy style. Our ongoing conversation will provide a place to focus on your unique and specific goals and increase self-awareness to make personal growth possible. As we work together, we may encounter unexpected feelings linked to your personal history. Reflections and insights gained in our work together will add to the facets of the person you are and hope to become.

About Me

About Me

I’m Linda Race a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. My private practice is located in Berkeley, CA.

I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Art Therapy Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA and completed three years of post-graduate training at The Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley, CA.

I am mixed Caucasian/Japanese and grew up in a rural small town in Indiana. I have lived in various Bay Area communities for 35 years. My life in the Bay Area has revolved around my work as a designer, artist and mother. I make and exhibit art, and encourage individuals of all ages to pursue creative expression.  As a mother of a child with learning differences, I learned to navigate the public education system and become an advocate. I bring a mix of life experiences that allow me to connect with clients of all ages and socio-cultural backgrounds.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long for individual teens and adults and vary for children and couples/dyads. To benefit most from therapy, it is best to keep a consistent weekly schedule.

While I do not currently bill insurance, I can provide you with a monthly invoice of services to provide your insurance company. Payments in cash or check are accepted. Payment is due at each session unless other arrangements have been agreed to.

Cancellation Policy: A 48-hour cancellation is required. The agreed upon session fee will be charged if a session is missed or less than 48 hours notice is provided.
